Cheap Pop: 20 Years Of RAW

3manbooth:

In Cheap Pop, Three Man Booth Discuss Random Topics

with a Slight Historical Bend

While web-surfing, we - as we imagine everyone does - made a pit stop at the reputable DatesinHistory.com. After browsing birthdays, dog birthdays and parrot birthdays, we decided to look up the records for January 11, 1993. Here is what we found:

  • January 11, 1993:    “Henry Birks and Sons jewelry chain files for bankruptcy protection; closes 34 of its 112 stores, then sells another 39 stores to an Italian jewellery group”
  • January 11, 1993:    Howard Stern’s radio show begins transmitting to Buffalo NY (WKBW)
  • January 11, 1993:    Independent presidential candidate Ross Perot publicly returns to politics

Something seems missing, doesn’t it? Something Uncut, Uncensored and Uncooked? I’m sure the fine folks behind DatesinHistory would rectify their omission of January 11, 1993 entries to include the first Monday Night RAW, the show that has become the longest running weekly episodic show in television history. With the 20th Anniversary of Monday Night RAW coming up, we decided to look back at that first RAW and describe our favorite moments from it.

Just because people don’t like the character doesn’t mean they wish the actual person playing the character ill will.

Yes, the rumors are true: Last night, Rikishi returned and destroyed Heath Slater (Anyone who thought Heath Slater was going to win that match must’ve been more delusional  than Slater was during his RAW 1000 promo). But the real moment - aside from the Samoan Spike / Umaga Tribute - took place after the match: Rikishi performed the “vintage” Too Cool dance. Instead of Scotty 2 Hotty and Grandmaster Sexay, he was joined by two new dance partners, his sons Jimmy and Jey, The Usos.

It’s no surprise that the Usos were able to keep up with their Dad since they perform the Siva Tau war dance every night. Both dances are great, but the Siva Tau seems to be catching on with the youth. Enjoy this video made by ReyFearsPsychosis mashing up the Usos Siva Tau with the Youtube video, ”Jessica’s Daily Affirmation“ You might learn a step or two!
